Where did Scatterlings of Africa start?  It was born out of a love for a continent and a need to help make a difference.

I was born in South Africa and proceeded to live in a number of different towns and cities around the country during my childhood, spending vacations traveling to neighbouring countries and learning about the different cultures and tribes that live there.  I have always had an appreciation for the beautiful arts and crafts that seem to abound from that part of the world.

A few years ago I landed in the USA with my family.  To cut a long story short, I felt that it was time to follow my heart.  I have always had a desire to make a difference in how the world views Africa and also to help the people of Africa.  What better way than to bring some of the unique and innovative treasures made there to the world?

The modern face of Africa has meant that more and more innovative, creative and entrepreneurial people have entered the market place. The distinctive vibrancy and cultural nature of the goods stands out in all the articles.  Goods made from ancient and beautiful practices have been melded in with new and zany ideas making for some truly imaginative arts, crafts and home decor items.

You will find some of the newer and more innovative styles and designs within this home.  The artists have taken the colours and vibrancy that Africa is all about and melded them into new forms and shapes.  You will be able to find a vast array of items that range from everyday use to collectors items.  All of these items are hand made and thus no two items are totally alike.
